Fair Bluff, County Community Markets Open Saturday

food farmers market

Saturday is opening day for two community markets in our area.

The Columbus County Community Farmer’s Market and the Fair Bluff community Market kick off their seasons Saturday. This weekend marks the first time the county market has opened in February. The February opening is part of a series of improvements being put into place this year at the market.

The county market is held on Government Complex Drive, in North Whiteville. While very few seasonal farm products will be ready, crafters, millers, candlemakers, beekeepers, artisans, woodworkers, bakers and other entrepreneurs are welcome. Call 840.6743 for more information.  The market is open from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Fair Bluff’s Community Market was scheduled to be open the first weekend of January, but foul weather cancelled that weekend.  The town has started integrating the market into downtown festivities such as the Christmas celebration and Watermelon Festival, in hopes of drawing more visitors downtown and giving small businesses a boost.

The Fair Bluff Market welcomes farmers and hobby gardeners, yard salers and flea marketers, bakers, and sellers of flowers, crafts, canned goods and handmade local crafts. The market opens at 8 a.m. on Riverside Drive. Call 910.833.8772 for more information or to reserve a space.
